During the month of January I'm doing a Daily Drawing Challenge - 31 Things to draw with themes by the artist Lisa Congdon. I may not be doing them daily, but they are great drawing exercises. They make you draw things that you otherwise wouldn't draw. I choose a Kuretake fine black marker to use during this challenge. In the beginning of the challenge I only use marker, but in the last days that I'm showing today, I started to use some pencil before using the marker. It's the way I feel more comfortable to draw.

I didn't like the simple cats that were suggested to draw. From this sheet this was the only one that I liked. |

Agendas 2016 prontas a enviar | 2016 Planners ready to be shipped |
I'm back in the studio, packing orders for items that I have ready to shipped and also preparing new planners to be shipped during the next weeks of January.
It has been a slow back to work. Sometimes I find it hard to create routines, but slowly I will get back on track of waking up early and go to bed early(ish). (maybe not in this week, but next week is another week, right?)
My first illustration of 2016!
This year I want to focus on creating more illustrations.
Two years ago I tried to draw every day, last year I wanted to create a pattern for each week of the year. I failed both times. Probably because after a certain time I didn't make more time to commit to these challenges. It reached a point that I was so behind that I couldn't be bothered to continue.
So this year I want to make it different. I want to draw something new every weeks of 2016. It can be a scribble, a drawing or a finished illustration. It doesn't matter if it's work or a personal illustration. I just want to draw.
Materials used in "Looking back" Illustration

I hope 2016 has been nice with you!
I also hope you took a look in the longest post I did about 2015's recap. If you did it you might have read about one of the gifts I got on Christmas - a light box - that I've already been playing with. What do you think of the first photo? I'm liking it, although I'm still working with it.
In the last days I have been thinking about my 2016's resolutions, not just in a personal level, but also professional. You might be aware that Nuts for Paper is my full-time professional project. And if in 2015 I was able to reach so much, I want that 2016 to be even better.
That's why I'm reaching out. I want to be present in more markets in fairs in Lisbon region. I'm asking for your recommendations. I'm also considering the change of having other selling points of Nuts for Paper products - can you recommend me some shop on-line or physical?
Psst If you haven't choose you're 2016 planner you still can do it!
Before entering 2016 I would like to say a few words about this one...

In the studio I keep most of the materials more related with Nuts for Paper business. But at my home office I like to keep some essential art supplies that often I carry around when I need them. Here's a sneak peak of it.
1) Embroidery line in dirty white for Nuts for Paper Notebooks
2) Paper Tissues - I always have a few packs in hand - not just because I have sinusitis but also I might need to wipe something clean.
3) Two small turquoise baskets with random things - tape, baker's twine, jewellery, buttons, ipod, telephone charger and memory disks.
4) Cubic glass jar with all the cables I might need. (Although most of the times there is always a few cables scattered around the desk).
5) I Love NY mug (it was a gift from my father brought from the NY airport) in this mug I keep my blue and purple shades of Copic Ciao markers.
6) Red Mug (Giant MUG) it's where I keep the rest of my Copic Ciao markers. Initially I wanted to separate the warm colours from the cold ones, but none of them are enough (yet) to fill these giant mugs,
7) Glass Cube filled with (almost) all my black and grey markers from various brands. It's also where I keep white pens and metallic markers. I also store here some of the brush pens (in grey and black)
8) Blue Mug - it's the miscellaneous mug - from number 2 pencils, to pens and Posca markers, to scissors, x-acto knife and the colour brush pens.
9) Wood piece from Woodography (they were my neighbours in the last Feira das Almas, and I couldn't resist this strange photo).
10) Bordallo Pinheiro Nenufar ceramic piece in blue. It's where I keep my pencil sharpeners, rubbers and USB pens.
11) My watch. Whenever I'm working I always take my watch.
12) Cutting mate
13) Table from IKEA

Bites & Bits August 32-35/52
August was a roller-coaster. A good roller-coaster. I started the month by installing new shelves on my Studio. I did it by myself and I...
