Entre noites curtas e longos e preenchidos dias, outra semana passou. O Natal está ao virar da esquina e as minhas compras natalícias estão quase terminadas. Mas o acontecimento mais importante nestes últimos dias foi o aniversário da minha mãe. Não fazemos grande coisa no dia de anos dela, mas é sempre um dia que adoramos celebrar, e eu em particular, porque adoro escolher presentes para lhe dar. Este ano decidi fazer algo para lhe oferecer; e nada melhor do que um livro de receitas personalizado especialmente para ela. A minha mãe cozinha todos os dias e, de vez em quando, ela gosta de experimentar coisas novas, em ocasiões especiais. Por isso, achei que um novo livro de receitas era o presente perfeito para ela (acho que não preciso de referir que a minha mãe tem uma quantidade astronómica de livros de receitas, e que este é mais um para a coleção). Nós costumamos procurar receitas online e, desta forma, é muito mais simples para a minha mãe conseguir aceder às receitas se estiverem todas escritas num livro (ela não se entende muito bem com computados e tecnologias no geral).

Between short nights and long busy days, another week has passed and gone. Christmas is just around the corner and my shopping are almost finished. But the most important event in these past few days was my Mother's birthday. We don't do much on her day, but it's always a day to remember and I absolutly love to pick her gifts. This year, I decided to do something to give her; and nothing better than some unique custom hard cover cookbook. My mom cooks everyday and, now and then, she likes to try something diferent, on some special days. So, I thought a new cookbook was the perfect gift for her (I suppose I don't have to say that she has an astronomical amount of cookbooks). We use to see some online recipes and it is so much easier for her to have the recipies on a cookbook which she can reach anytime she wants (my mom doesn't understand very well computers or digital tecnologies in general).

Não sei se vocês gostam de cozinhar com alguma música de fundo (eu acho bem relaxante); na nossa casa não fazemos isso porque a televisão está sempre ligada mas, para mim, eu associo sempre comida à banda sonora do filme Ratatouille. É automático, e eu adoro o filme. Não sou grande cozinheira mas o filme ensina-nos que se formos apaixonados por algo, um mundo de possibilidades abre-se ao nosso horizonte. Por isso, vou continuar a treinar e, talvez um dia, as minhas capacidades culinárias melhorem, quem sabe!

I don't know if you like to cook with some background music (I think it's very relaxing); in our house we don't do that because the TV is always on but, for me, I always associate food to the soundtrack of the Ratatouille movie. It's just automatic, and I love the movie. I'm no great cook but the movie teach us that we just have to be passionate about it and a world of possibilities is open for us. So, I'll keep trying and, maybe one day, I'll be a pro in the kitchen, who knows!
